❝Design should reflect the people who live there, not the person who designed it❞ - Joanna Gaines

Joanna Gaines has gained global knowledge from her series, Fixer Upper but who is she and what is the story behind her current success? Joanna Gaines, born Joanna Lea Stevens, was raised in Texas, where her childhood greatly influenced her later career in design and home renovation. Although specific details about her early life are not widely documented, Joanna has shared some insights into her upbringing and how it shaped her passion for design and entrepreneurship. Her father was particularly influential in fostering her entrepreneurial spirit and teaching her the value of hard work and determination. Throughout her childhood, Joanna Gaines also developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of rustic and vintage elements, which would later become hallmarks of her design style. Mrs Gaines found her design inspiration in New Mexico when she anc Chip went on a road trip there; touches of Joanna’s farmhouse style are now visible in almost all of Joanna's designs.

She graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Communications and a minor in Business Administration. After college, she worked in various fields such as working on television and radio stations, including interning in New York City, where she was exposed to different design styles and concepts. She has said that during her studies she hoped to one day work as a broadcast journalist herself. Joanna's interest in design intensified when she and Chip started remodeling homes together. They began flipping houses, buying properties in need of repair and transforming them into stunning living spaces.

Joanna Gaines, known for her work as a designer, author, and television personality, draws motivation from various sources in her interior design endeavors. She is motivated to create meaningful spaces, bring joy and comfort, embrace personal space, incorporate nature and history, promote family and community and lastly but not least, the continuous learning and growth.

Shortly after Joanna’s and Chip’s wedding, she joined her husband’s business flipping houses, and in 2003 the pair also opened the retail store Magnolia Market, which sold home goods. With her blog full of the couple’s experience in their house flipping business, High Noon Entertainment suggested that they made a show which eventually became known as HGTV’s Fixer Upper in 2013. In this show, Joanna Gaines gained her popularity giving her the spotlight as a prominent interior designer. Apart from her work on "Fixer Upper," Joanna has authored several books focusing on interior design, lifestyle, and family.
